Wukong Story

Wukong, the Monkey King, wreaked havoc in the Heavens 500 years ago, when he single-handedly defeated 100,000 celestial warriors. Despite all his powers, he could not escape Buddha’s mighty grasp and was magically sealed beneath Fiver-Finger Mountain. Every moment of his five centuries of imprisonment, he dreamed of his freedom.

“First, I’ll take a leak on the gates of the Great Thunder Monastery… that’ll teach Buddha! And then… I’ll fight!”

Wukong mulled this over in anger. He never hated Buddha. On the contrary, he looked up to Buddha, as Buddha had proven to be mightier than he. He simply wanted to pull a prank on Buddha.

When the seal was finally broken, however, Wukong did not do as planned. Was this out of fear? Not really, For a voice hailed him from afar:

“Wukong! Heroes, Immortals, and mighty gods have gathered here for the greatest battle of all! Do you dare to fight?”

Such an offer was beyond Wukong’s wildest dreams.

“I am the Great Sage, Equal of Heaven. I love to fight!”
